If you look into it a bit more, you may discover that Bill Borden was not from the same family as the Borden Dairy Family. His father, William Borden, appears to have made his fortune in Chicago real estate after the Great Chicago fires and from silver mining in California.

At any rate, he was and incredible example for us all, having given up millions for the sake of the gospel of Christ.

How I ironic that the very thing you discussed in your post, happened for me through your post. You wrote it years ago and I read it today – it encourages my Faith.

My husband is an amazing and gifted man. We are in a weird/spiritually dry spell – praying through and seeking God. We long for the “best and the rest” of our lives moment – the big door that we are looking for is intimacy with God and others – knowing them and being known, being a light for His kingdom, and relationships that provide mutual love, support, prayer, thought, growth, and result in usefulness to His Kingdom. Any other details would be icing on the cake. To the author or anyone who stumbles across this – please pray with us – I REALLY believe in prayer!! Thanks so much! Jenny

@Frasier – I just bought a house… the whole thing is mine – fully, but I am discovering each area the more I live in it. When I looked at the house and bought it, I had one thing in mind. Now that I’ve been living in it for a couple of months, I am discovering what it actually is like, what it needs, and what a blessing it is. Yes, we have all of God – fully – when we are sealed by the Holy Spirit through our initial salvation. At the same time, we work our salvation out throughout our lives as we discover and understand more of what has happened inside of us. Our experience with salvation has phases. I’m not trying to put words in the author’s mouth. This is the first time I’ve heard it put like this, but as I read the author’s post, that is how I understand it and I find it very encouraging, stirring, and comforting all at once.

i strongly agree with this. 3phases of salvation, now the seemingly hard to grasp_ about the tenses used for salvation is solved. For frasier, pray that you have the Holy Spirit when you study the Bible for no one can truly undestand it unless the Spirit of God is in him. Be like a berean christian, it wont mean that because your the only one who has a different interpretation that you receive a special revelation, the fact that many faithful ministers agreed, possibly they were rigth, because there is only one Spirit of God and so there should be harmony. This is a brotherly advice if youre a christian too.

My name is David Hart. We lived near Charlie Riggs in Nashville when I was 6.

Per request of my mother LaVerne Hart, I’m on a search for the Riggs family particularly LaRue whom my mom loved as a great friend.

I know Charlie passed in 2008 and but have no info on where the rest of the family is. If you have any info you could share, I would appreciate any help.

Also, any info on my old buddy Bobby would be helpful.

I am of a much younger generation than Mr.Riggs, but recently came acros Learning to walk with God at my grandmothers home. I have recently been struggling with the Enemy about some key factors in my faith, and church, this book has truly helped me to see truth in the word like never before and hopefully to experience more victory! What a spirit filled man he must have been.

Thanks for highlighting William Borden’s life. An amazing example of sacrifice and service, even though his time on earth was relatively brief.
